I cannot believe Christmas is OVER! It always amazes me that how quickly all the festivities and fanfare of the holiday pass me by. All the build up and then it is over … I would much prefer a Christmas week or month as to draw it out and fully enjoy all of its goodness. I can already feel the winter slump is on its way. Winter is not a favorite season of mine especially due to living in Northeast Pennsylvania. It has been so bitter cold and windy here and I just want to hibernate.

I enjoy looking at the snow and the feeling of being snowed in, but driving in it is something I generally avoid. The first year we moved to Beach Lake, I was nearly in a head-on collision due to winter weather conditions. I was driving down (good ol’) 652 to work in Honesdale and a woman nearly hit me head on, but swerved back onto the other side of the road in the nick of time and flipped her car in the process RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Well, that pretty much sealed the deal and epitomizes my feelings on winter driving. Praise God she was wearing her seatbelt and driving a Subaru Outback as she did even have a scratch on her! Today I am also a proud owner of a Subaru…any wonder? That experience was better than watching any TV ad! I am quite happy we have not received much snow this year thus far, but I also know it is acomin’! I suppose I should just make the best of it and bask by the fire and curl up with good movie or book. I am much more of a spring and fall gal. Well, here’s to steaming coffee, a warm fire and cozy blanket…I hear 40 degrees are on the way…come on spring!
