I am receiving lots of inquiries about painting furniture so I wanted to address this here and offer up some useful links for those that are considering painting their furniture (this is for you Carolyn!) I am a HUGE fan of painting!!! It is the cheapest and easiest way for a completely new look! Who doesn’t like that idea? I would have like to given the instructions myself although I figured there was no need to reinvent the wheel! I was in the middle if painting when my sister called me tonight. Here is my little sis Kimmy and I last year – I am on the right and Kimmy is on the left (isn’t she pretty?):
We got to chatting and mid-conversation, I mentioned I was painting a desk…she noted that was of no surprise to her and then relayed a story to me about how she had painted a door this week and she didn’t at all enjoy the project. I had to explain that although I do paint often than sometimes I enjoy it and at other times, it is a chore. I don’t know why…I just think sometimes my motivation level is not always up to par. So is life. Yet, I admit I continually have paint on my hands and on my fingernails…in fact, I actually found some in my hair today! So…I just thought it may be useful for me to share some links that I found helpful in my learning process as to the fine art of painting:
Any of the above sources are great guides and will get you going! I am currently painting a sweet desk as well as a wooden shelf for my new office/craft nook for Ana’s room. I have to confess that I have misplaced my camera cord so the final pictures will be delayed. Funny things is that I asked Emma if she had seen my cord she told me she saw in it school laying by her cubby…what???? OK..no idea what happened there, but I called her teacher and she did locate it and placed it on her desk which is the good news. Now the bad news: by the end of the day, the cord went missing again – maybe into some 6-year-olds bag?? Why I ask? So…needless to say, the search is on for the missing cord and until then, no photos…this is painful for me. Bear with me as I muddle through! Until then, the office project continues..stay tuned for more. Anyway I can help with your painting endeavors, just drop a line…I’ll do what I can to steer you in the right direction! Happy painting everyone!!!
