This is my first time stopping by. I was led here by Tatertots and Jello and I just have to say your door table is now at the top of my list of things to try to recreate! It’s phenomenal! Do you have any advice for weatherproofing it, I’m guessing you don’t pull everything in if it rains?
Beautiful beautiful project!
Biz
Thanks Biz!
I am loving’ it too! We are having fun having picnics there and I think this is much more fun than some boring old standard table set. Sometimes if the weather is really bad, I will bring it in, but it is generally ok outside. I put on some polyurethane for purposes of protection, but if I had to do it all over again, perhaps another
product? The poly created a yellowish tint on the words on the table and I don’t like that at all. It definately needs a protective coat due to weather! No doubt! If you do this and find something for yours, do drop me a line to let me know what you discovered worked!! Thanks for coming by!
Stacey :o)
Thanks for linking up last week. This project is being featured this week at Lines Across My Face so come on over and grab a featured button and link up another post.

How did you end up weatherproofing it? I am doing a redo of my deck and don’t have the extra cash for a new patio set right now… I’m thinking this would be perfect!!
LOVE this whole idea! Nice execution too…
especially love the summer words you came up with….
what a gorgeous table!! I lvoe it. Just posted a link about this on my facebook page to your blog :O)
I’m a new DIYer 😉 I used your table as color inspiration for my own backyard picnic table makeover and so far I LOVE IT!! Thanks so much for sharing. I, however, have been unsuccessful in my attempts at stenciling. Do you simply trace the stencil with a pencil then hand paint or do you paint directly on the stencil? If the later, do you use stencil adhesive? Can you tell I’m a greenhorn? lol
Stacey- Hi! I’m an old reader of your blog (I’m “WhyCuzICan” we used to do alot of the same linky parties), and had to tell you I stumbled on a darling homesteading blog with this table in a post about great things they’ve seen on the web. But, they accidently didn’t have the correct link to it, so I dropped them a line and let them know who is the real owner/designer of this table… yes, the Net is a small world because I recognized your table on a homesteading blog of all places, (not trash to treasure redo one like I always posted on). Their blog is here (direct link to the page that shows this lovely table) http://www.forgottenwayfarms.com/1/post/2012/06/get-out-side-with-some-outdoor-living.html
Yes–I remembered who did the table as soon as I saw it- your work is THAT memorable! (I haven’t blogged in a year!)

Hi! I LOVE this. I’m making a new dining patio and have very little to finance it with, so this really fits the bill, and my style. My question is, the door has cut outs that sink down a bit. Do yo find it difficult to put plates on this table? Or did you cover it with glass, or plexiglass to make the top even?
Hi Patti!
Thanks for writing! Yes this is a paneled door so the recessed panels are there so yes, plates are ok overall. I just used it as is and without any issue, but you could use a glass/plexiglass top. I left the top just rest on top of the sawhorses so I thought it best to just use it as is -70it can be moved easily that way. Good luck! Would love to see what you do!
Hi,
I’m putting together a round-up on Spoonful (Disney’s crafts and cooking blog) of garage sale upcycling projects. Would you mind if I included a photo of this project and linked back to your site for the instructions?
