I purchased a very large white rug from my sister with intentions of using it in my living room when I made over the room. I had great intentions. What I didn’t account for was all the mud our family (mostly our pup Jelly Bean) would track into the house. Needless to say as hard as I tried, I couldn’t keep that daggone rug clean. I encountered stains I couldn’t get out. Not to mention I was tired of getting stressed out whenever the dog needed out so up the rug came.
I instantly felt better although I really disiked having a perfectly good rug I wasn’t using. In the meantime, I had been looking for a rug for Emma’s room, but I hadn’t found it. I considered the white rug, but it was simply too big for the room. A repurpose was in order. First, I had my husband cut it down to measure 5 x 7 which was the ideal size. Then out came the paintbrush. I will paint anything. Why not?
I taped it up and painted a cute chevron pattern in pink.
I am so happy I did!
Here is the taping and painting process:
I used a piece of tape in the center of the rug for
the purposes of
measuring although I removed this
one prior to painting
The final product:
I like how it turned out and I am happy to
not have wasted that rug.

I thought I noticed your creative handiwork at first glance with the bed reveal. Love, love, love it. In fact, a painted rug would meet one of my needs around here. Any special kind of paint? Blessings!
Wow, how resourceful! I love the final look, too. Great job!
Such a great idea, love how it turned out!
I love this idea! I am thinking about doing this for a family room rug. What kind of paint did you use? Was the paint very stiff on the rug?
