Garden Subway Dresser

I had the bug to create a subway dresser for many moons although this creation by Bliss of Bliss Ranch put me over the edge:

It is easy to see why
I adore this dresser.
Bliss and I were emailing back and forth the other day and she inspired me to try my own version of her most amazing creation.

I found the perfect dresser for my project…remember this find I shared the other day?
I found this amazing antique solid wood beauty
at a yard sale.
I was in hog heaven.

Ana rather liked it, too.

It only needed a few minor repairs.
I decided to keep the knobs as they had charm.
It is a great dresser.
They just don’t make them like they used to.

So…since it was Mother’s Day and I was able to do as I wished (can every day be Mother’s Day? Just sayin’), I chose to work on my dresser in effort to complete it for the show this weekend.

I used stencils to trace garden words onto the drawers.
I used chalk to do this and it worked like a dream.

Here was where I began this morning with my project:

Doesn’t everyone just have dresser drawers laying
around in the kitchen?
Funny thing is Chris never said a word.
He knows me.

Needless to say, this dresser took a great deal time
and concentration.
I L-O-V-E how she came out!
I finished her in the nick of time tonight with just a smidge of daylight remaining…whew!
I couldn’t wait to share with you!
I was gettin’ those pictures.
Say HELLO to Garden Gwen!

I stained each individual knob and
hand-painted every word.
I love her.
I can’t wait to see who else likes her, too when I put
her up for sale this weekend.
Just a few more days…

  3. This is wonderful. I have a bureau outside that I put plants in last year. This would be perfect for that. So unique. I’m pinning. But I think it would take too long to paint the words by hand. i’ve never done wording before. Well, thanks for the idea. I do love it. Linda
