Megan and I took on a huge makeover for the Blessed Nest the other month. We scored a very cool table from someone on Craigslist – it was a fabulous find and we were doing the happy dance. However, once the project began, we ran into several issues. The project turned out to be a beast. My vision for the table involved painting the bottom and refinishing the top. Well, I put all my muscle into sanding down the top and it was not fun. It was sheer hard work. Finally I had it sanded down and I was then able to apply the stain. The table didn’t properly take the stain and appeared mottled and splotchy. I was so disappointed, but quickly shifted to plan B. Sometimes with redoing furniture, that frequently happens. Plan B involved paint and stain. I love how it all came out. The other issue revolved around the chairs. Who knew chairs would be such a task to paint? Well, they were. All 4-5 coats per chair. I needed a vacation from chairs after that. I adore the fabric we chose for the
set – at least I got something right! So…after some hard work and detours, we finally ended up with this lovely set:
So despite being beastly, she turned out quite lovely.
I suppose you just never know what you are going to get.
