Crabby Cupcakes

My baby girl Ana graduated from Preschool tonight. She was terrified to go crying about not wanting to go up on stage to receive her diploma and to sing her songs. She cried. She worried. Then graduation came and she rocked it. She was confident, happy, and participated fully in the ceremony. I wasn’t sure where the old Ana went but I much liked this new girl. She just bee bopped away up on the stage. I tried to make it a special event for her and encouraged her as much as possible. Here she is as we were getting ready to leave for the ceremony:

Ana at Graduation

I wanted to make a special snack for the graduation as well – Ana is a young foodie and her day pretty much revolves around food.
Her favorite things are Hawaiian rolls right now.
She also loves to bake.

I think I made the perfect snack for her special day.

Crabby Cupcakes from Embracing Change

Aren’t they stinkin’ cute?
I confess they were not my original idea…I found them on a fellow bloggy friend’s blog HERE and decided to try them.
They were easy but uber time consuming.
It was a super sticky and messy project.
Ana loved it so it was worth it all.

Crabby Cupcakes

I used white cake mix and vanilla icing.  The sandy looking bottom of the cake is actually crushed graham crackers.
I used orange slices for the body of the crab and peach gummy slices for the claws.  I was able to find the cute edible eyes at Walmart.  Love them.
I also used a bunch of tooth pics – entire ones and pieces.

They eyes were tedious…wanna know my method?

I had to laugh when I put them into the pan to leave. What a sight to see 48 eyeballs staring at me.  I was instantly reminded of the song…”Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell.

Please tell me you know that song.

Anyhoo, the crabby cupcakes were a hit and I am glad I made them.

Not one cupcake came home…just a few graham cracker crumbs.

How sweet your little girl looks in the photo. I am very happy she found her courage to go onstage and carry out her duty. I can almost bet you had tears in your eyes.

Childhood goes by so fast. I wish I had known this and would have written down every word, funny thing, not so funny thing, etc. and take even a ton more photos. As for writing down everything…you think you will remember everything…but I guarantee you that you won’t. Time eats away at recall.

The special snack you made her was great on your part. She will remember those moments with you.

    Thanks for posting.
