Last night, I briefly showed you this custom order table and chair set I was working on…
My client wanted the chairs painted and stenciled and the table painted on the base and legs and sanded and re-stained to freshen it up.Table sets are always time-consuming as there are so many steps as well as space-hogs. The results are stunning, but the work tedious.I thought it couldn’t be too bad…right?Well, the chairs went well…they painted up nicely and the stencils came out very cute. The table was another story.
When I went to sand down the table top, I ran into major issues.
The table had a heavy clear coating over it so getting it sanding down was a major chore.I surely didn’t expect that.6 hours of sanding and scraping later and we had this:
It was a labor of love, but by this point, I was getting excited to get the table done so I could see it all together.
That served as good motivation for me.
I carried on.
I used a custom mix of stains to get this shade and painted the chairs and table with Glidden’s Black Onyx.
Then I sealed it all up with poly.I love the end result…and so did my client!
