I can’t wait to show you the latest transformation that I have made!
I wanted to show you last night, but my eyelids were so heavy…I just didn’t make it.
I really need to blog during the day and not in the evening…that will be a new habit I will be trying to get into this year.
So…I found this absolutely amazing Empire dresser on Craigslist several weeks ago.
I fumbled to quickly get the phone and call about it.
I feared I wouldn’t get it as it had already been posted for an hour.
I couldn’t dial fast enough!I spoke to a sweet lady about it and I was thrilled it was still available!
She actually had two old dressers for sale…I thought I had hit the furniture lottery!
It was a most awesome find! I think the Empire-style is a favorite of mine.
I brought it home and it sat in the garage for several weeks as I hemmed and hawed about if I wanted to paint her or not.
Yes, she has a need for paint as she was not perfect and had some areas of chipped veneer and a worn top, but her drawers were so lovely. The hardware was original and it has severely yellowed with age.
That was a major bummer as those were some awesome glass knobs.
This beauty needed a substantial knob for the large and heavy solid wood drawers she sported.
My dilemma stunted me for a bit and I just couldn’t decide.
After a few weeks, I got tired of being so indecisive and made a call to paint her. Honestly I still wasn’t sure, but it was better to have a direction to proceed than not. I figured she wasn’t doing me any good just being stored in the garage hiding all her beauty behind the garage door.
I planned to take her to be sold at the shop so I chose to paint her in milk paint, distress her and seal her up in Hemp Oil. I decided that I just couldn’t live with those yellow knobs so I put them aside for another project. I ordered some lovely knobs from Hobby Lobby and I think they were a perfect fit for this piece. Miss Mustard Seed’s French Enamel.
This color is fabulous!
I think you will agree…
She will be headed to Fresh Vintage by Amy in Strasburg later this week and will be available to be seen or purchased there.
