This dresser was a huge Craigslist score.
I don’t recall the price as I got it months ago, but it was super reasonable.
I took my mom along to pick it up – sometimes it is just nice to go on a drive together.
Plus…with Craigslist pick ups, it is always best to use the buddy system in my experience.
The guy who was selling it answered the door without his shirt on…not normally a big deal I am sure, but for me, I was glad to have someone along.
You just never know.
I was thrilled when I saw the dresser – is was a cool empire piece and it was a great find.
Despite my initial excitement, it sat in my garage for a long time.
Waiting for her makeover.
I had lots of ideas, but never enough momentum to get her going.
Until this week that is.
I decided that I needed to set my mind on finishing the pieces that have been hanging out in my garage for ages.
After this one, I have just one left.
I am feeling pretty accomplished I must say!
Here is the before of this dresser…excuse the fact that I had all the drawers out and was ready to roll…
She had been painted in boring brown paint.
I sanded her a bit and then chose to paint this piece in Annie Sloan’s Duck Egg Blue.
I have always adored that color.
I distressed her once she was painted and sealed her up in clear wax.
She is a chippy, rustic and imperfect dream of a dresser.
Imperfect is the new perfect you know.
The best part about her is all her character marks and imperfections…she is just beautiful.
I think I am in love.
She has such great character.
If only we knew her story.
She is of to Fresh Vintage by Amy in Strasburg to be placed up for sale there if you are interested 🙂
