Sweet Green Cottage Dresser Makeover

When I spotted this amazing dresser with mirror, I jumped on it quick!
I knew she wouldn’t last long.
What a gorgeous beauty she was, too….with all that dark delicious wood and curves abound.
I loved her!

I had to sand down the top of the dresser a bit as there was some old paper stuck to it and I also had to fill and redrill holes in the top two drawers to add some new hardware.
I do redrill holes, but I much prefer to keep them as is whenever possible.
For some reason, filling and redrilling has been known to cause me some serious headaches.
Luckily this was a relatively easy fix.

She was just an amazing piece!

I loved her original glass cut knobs, but I thought she needed some more sizeable knobs to open her solid drawers.
I added some D. Lawless Hardware cut glass knobs which I thought suited her better.
D. Lawless offers great hardware of excellent quality at a great price!
These knobs run all but $2.13 a knob…that is a STEAL!
You gotta check them out!

I wanted her to have a fresh, cottage look so I chose to paint her up in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Luckett’s Green.
I did add Miss Mustard Seed’s Bonding Agent as well as she had a shiny glossy look to her and I wanted the paint to adhere well.

I gave her a light sanding so the milk paint would go on well.
I then painted two coats in Luckett’s Green Milk Paint.  I liked it, BUT I decided that I wanted the green to have some more depth – I added a touch of Miss Mustard Seed’s Boxwood (a rich dark green) to enhance the color more.
The look I ended up with was more of a soft green – if you looked close, you could see the two shades I used.
I was happy with it so I distressed it and used Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax to finish her up.

The effect I got was perfectly cottage!
Just the look I was going for!

I love how she came out!
I am happy to say that she will be going into a precious baby girl’s nursery.
That makes my heart so happy!
