I wanted to shake it up a little…you know…do something different.
Simply because different is good.
I enjoy painting in neutrals – white, black, grey….those colors are always popular.
But I wanted to do something different.
I found the perfect candidate!
An adorable dresser – she was just the right size and shape for my new adventure.
Love her cute little legs, too.
So off we went!
I had been considering painting a dresser in yellow for a few weeks and I hemmed and hawed about it.
I guess my fear is that yellow is such a distinct color that is wouldn’t sell.
Deciding on my vision for a piece is always a process – there is a fine balance between creativity and painting what will sell.
Sometimes I shoot to sell fast and at other times, I want to throw caution to the wind and see how it goes and not let concern over selling a piece dampen my creative spirit.
The struggle is real.
I decided to go with my gut and paint her yellow.
I was feeling RISKY.
I chose to paint her in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Mustard Seed Yellow.
It took a few coats to really get the paint to fully cover and begin to look more of a rich yellow.
I was a little nervous when I was working on it as I knew what I wanted. Fortunately she came around…especially after I sealed her in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.
How you finish a piece is so very important.
I think she finished well 🙂
I love her new look!
How perfect is she is yellow??
She is available for sale for $225 if you are local to my neck of the woods 🙂
