If you follow my blog on Facebook, you recall I posted this picture with the caption “Burn or Save?”
I purchased this a few weeks back.
It looked better in this picture than in person – trust me.
It was a hot mess.
The wood was old and worn. The hardware missing. It was pretty unsightly.
I asked what you would do…save it or burn it.
I got a ton of responses! It was fun to read your comments.
I just thought it was too ugly to be saved so off to the fire it went.

Just kidding!
Honestly I couldn’t believe you would actually think I would burn such a pretty piece of furniture!
You should know me better than that 😉
I loved her lines, her size and the thought of using her in so many ways in a home certainly appealed to me.
She could work as a buffet, a media stand, a dresser.
Plus I wanted to bring her back to life again!
I loved the challenge.
I used a custom mixed batch of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint…I am not even sure of what ratios of what colors I added to the batch, but I do know that the mix was AWESOME! Such a great color!!
I sealed the piece in Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax.
I consider her SAVED.
What a difference a little love and attention can make!
Did you notice those amazing old church windows I have displayed on the top of the buffet?
Those are my take away finds from Luckett’s Spring Market this year.
They are so fabulous!
I knew she was a beauty underneath all that yuckiness!
In fact the very couple I purchased her from decided she love her so much that they wanted to purchase her back!
Isn’t that a great story?
Keep saving that beautiful furniture!
There is just nothing like it 😉
I wish that I had the patience to finish the two dressers that I have in my garage…you would LOVE them! I’m not surprised at how beautiful yours turned out! One question for you…do you brush or spray your finishes?
JP
I did fall for it. “She burnt THIS?!”
Hahah, well played there.
It turned out even better and I like how you kept its classic character.
Thank you!
I didn’t think you would burn it! LOL!
Gorgeous color!!! Really makes the beautiful hardware pop nicely. Turned out so nice, no wonder they wanted it back! 🙂
You really didn’t believe I was going to burn it now did you???
It’s me you are talking to here 🙂
