Witching Hour Buffet Makeover

I spotted this amazing buffet on Craigslist this week…I loved her lines and all her storage.

Withcing Hour BUFFET - BEFORE

I imagined her all painted up in a new color.
She had great bones and just needed to be updated a bit.
I knew she would make an amazing buffet or media stand!
Plus she was in great shape so really no repairs were needed…that was a BIG bonus!

She barely fit in my Jeep Cherokee, but I made it work and secured the hatch down with some bungees.
I wasn’t leaving without her…I had already painted her in my mind.
Once I do that, forget about it.
I made it home without her falling out…excellent!

I thought a lot of the color I wanted…I thought white would be amazing, but I was tired of painting in white after the last few pieces I did…plus I think she would look fantastic in a dark color.
I thought she would be beautiful in black…but I wasn’t sure.
Perhaps grey?
Again, I wasn’t 100 percent sure.
So when I stopped into the Bnejamin Moore Paint Store and spotted this amazing color called Witching Hour, I was hooked.
Witching Hour is a deep and rich charcoal grey…it looks black, but it isn’t.
This color reminded me of a warm campfire, a crackling fireplace, a wool throw…
so suiting for this glorious fall season.
So I made a choice and proceeded to paint her up.

Isn’t she sultry now?
So smooth and gorgeous…I just love this buffet!

She truly is lovely…I think she should be in a magazine.
She is a stunner.
So stunning in fact that just 4 hours after I listed her for sale, she was SOLD and OUT THE DOOR.
That’s how you do it I guess ;)

Thanks for reading!

  1. Absolutely stunning! Such a beautiful color and beautiful lines!

The “Witching Hour” paint colour works really well with this piece, along with the original handles. Did you need to make the paint (latex?) into homemade chalk paint or paint on as is? Just wondering how you made it adhere since it didn’t seem to be primed (perfect amount of distressing, too). Thanks!!!
