The other week, I scouted out some very cool antique shops in a neighboring town.
Fortunately, Lancaster, Pennsylvania is a town filled with many cool places to shop and awesome antique stores to explore.
I have had no trouble finding good furniture pieces to makeover since moving here.
I stopped into a brand-new to me shop and spotted this beautiful empire dresser from across the room.
The angels began to sing I tell ya.
This empire was just so cool…and so unique.
And she was BIG.
She got my attention all right.
I knew she would look AMAZING made over in a way that would enhance her lovely features.
I couldn’t wait to get my painting hands on her!
She was pretty fun to paint up…I did have some dinginess with the paint looking dirty and grungy in showing through the paint so I did seal her up in two coats of shellac before I finished painting her up.
Shellac is wonderful because it will help with pieces in which you experience bleed-through of any kind…I use Zinsser Shellac…seems to work well.
Bleed through is a pain in the rear, but not the kiss of death.
Most times with the use of this product, the bleed through can be eliminated.
I think all the work on this amazing piece definitely paid off…she is STUNNING now!
I added some pretty knobs from Hobby Lobby…they were perfect for this piece.
And that curve is GORGEOUSNESS!
What a knockout.
I knew she would be spectacular.
She is available for sale at a local vintage boutique in Strasburg, Pennsylvania for $375 if you are interested.
I hope she finds a wonderful new home 😉
