I was shopping at my favorite antique shop the other day and I found a few pieces of furniture that caught my eye.
This awesome empire dresser was one of them.
I tried not to check him out.
To think about him.
To paint him in my mind and envision how AWESOME he would be.
But I couldn’t do it.
I loved him….wouldn’t you?
Not to mention I have an affinity for empire dressers.
Sooooooo…..I thought on it for a few minutes as I shopped the store, but I couldn’t get him out of my mind so I decided I had to get him.
I didn’t want to lose this piece.
Seems silly to talk about furniture pieces like they are people, but I see them a little differently
I thought this dresser looked masculine and strong so I thought he would look fantastic in a bold color.
Then I began to consider painting it pink….I have been wanting to paint in pink for a few weeks now!
I just get a color in my mind…but then I started to second guess myself.
What drew me to this dresser was the large and lovely mirror, his rustic charm and adorable wooden knobs…
I decided it would be best to keep this look as it was perfect for him.
I decided to go with milk paint…it is so fun to work with.
I was feeling adventurous and wanted to just let him decide how he wanted to look…with milk paint, there is room to play
I mixed a custom mix of Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paints – 50% Eulalie’s Sky and 50% Artissimo….
I like to experiment with color mixing!
I skipped the Bonding Agent as I thought a chippy look would look great on him.
I sealed the dresser and mirror in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil after I sanded off all his chipping paint.
I felt using the oil was ok as his paint appeared to be done chipping, but if he wasn’t done chipping, I would have used another sealant.
Oh my goodness.
He is PERFECT.
Seriously chippy and aged to perfection…I think he is quite handsome!
He’s a looker.
