Rustic Glam Dresser in Trophy

Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change

This dresser was pristine when I bought it.
Not a blemish on it.
And that grain.
PUUUUUURRRRRRRRRFECT.
I was in love.

And truthfully this one gave me pause.
I was hesitant to paint.
Yup.
Sometimes that can happen even to me.
I appreciate lovely wood….I have a mix of wood and painted pieces in my home.
I am not a wood hater…believe me.
And this one made me stop and think.

I waited for a few weeks before making a move as I had to discern what I should do.
Ultimately I decided to paint just a little bit of the dresser and leave as much of the wood grain as possible.
I left the top and drawers natural and painted the base of the dresser in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Trophy.
I distressed it once painted and sealed it up in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.

I felt kinda bad painting at first, but once I was done, I didn’t feel bad anymore.
After all, this dresser really SHINES now!
I am so happy with the end result!

I love Trophy…it is such a great grey reminiscent of the grey on a plaid wool  blanket you wrap yourself in on a crisp fall day.
It is so rich and beautiful.

Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change

I kept most of the original pulls but chose to replace the top two ugly knobs with really
gorgeous cut glass knobs from D. Lawless Hardware.
They give this piece a true rustic glam look. Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change Trophy Two-Toned Dresser - Embracing Change

  1. The trophy really brought out the grain, I think. Amazing how a little paint can “frame” gorgeous wood. Fantastic work!

  2. Beautiful! Love how just a small amount of paint really shows off the grain and shape of the dresser. Love it.
