Luckett’s Green Dresser: My Happy Accident

I really liked this dresser when I saw the picture of it posted for sale.
It was just my style and I was hoping I had a chance at it!
Searching for and buying pieces can be a chore…let me tell you.
I really thought I wasn’t going to have a chance to get this cutie, but luckily I was able to get in touch with the seller easily and arrange a meet.

Before Luckett's Green - Embracing Change

My original vision was to paint it in a shade of white from Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint line and I started off with that plan…but milk paint and me … we got into it.
I had done all my sanding for the prep work and my paint was mixed – I painted on two coats, but after it dried, the paint literally flaked right off.
I feared that I had forgotten to add the bonding agent.

I was SO MAD at that paint!

Honestly with milk paint, sometimes that’s what you get.
I love it, but it can be unpredictable at times.
I let it sit for a day while I worked through my frustration and came up with plan B.

Then…recovery mode began.
I sanded the entire piece down with my palm sander and sealed it in shellac with the intent to start from  scratch.
I mixed up a new batch of milk paint in a brand new color – Luckett’s Green.
I welcomed the change!
I used a great deal of Bonding Agent in the batch because I didn’t want to experience that same event again.
Once the paint was on, I distressed her  bit and sealed her in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.

I added some SUPER ADORABLE knobs from D. Lawless Hardware…they are perfect for this piece!
Love them!

Look how cute she turned out!
A happy accident I suppose!
I’ll take it.
