Stately Secretary Desk Makeover

Kitchen Scale Secretary Desk - BEFORE - Embracing Change

I put this project OFF for MONTHS.
Big pieces always seem to get pushed off to the side.
It’s much more fun to work on pieces quickly and get immediate gratification because of the fast end result.

So….there she sat pushed to the furthest back corner of my lonely garage.
Waiting…waiting….
Finally after nearly a year, I got around to working on her.
It was BEYOND time!

I played with lots of different colors in my mind…black, yellow, navy….and I finally settled on using Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Kitchen Scale which is the most gorgeous shade of turquoise.
Rich and beautiful.
I used Bonding Agent too to avoid any chipping.
I distressed her a bit before I sealed her up in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.
I painted the inside of the shelves in Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint in Old White. and sealed the chalk paint in Annie Sloan’s Clear Wax.
I left the inside of the desk natural as her mahogany wood grain is STUNNING.
Painted with a bit of the natural wood…I think that’s the best of both worlds.

My word…isn’t she GORGEOUS???

I am happy to say she spent more time in my garage awaiting her makeover than awaiting her new owners to pick her up 😉
She was WORTH the WAIT.

Thanks for swinging by everyone!!
