I was interested in this piece when I saw it posted on Craigslist, but I wasn’t 100% sold for some reason.
I didn’t know why, but I was uncertain and thought it best to swing by and see it in person.
I figured I could be convinced.
When I went to see it, I was even less sure.
I thought it was kinda ugly to be honest.
The owner used a can of deep red spray paint on it and it was pretty homely.
I still didn’t love it, BUT I saw that it had potential to be pretty and I like a challenge.
So…off we went.
Sometimes I am not feelin’ it right away and I think that is perfectly ok.
I was itching to use my Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Boxwood for some reason…maybe it was all the spring like weather we had been having in February…who knows.
It’s a rich and gorgeous color so you can’t go wrong!
I mixed up a batch with a bit of bonding agent in it since I was planning to paint over a previously painted surface.
I distressed it and sealed the entire buffet in Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Wax when I was done.
I saved the cool original hardware for the drawers.
I sanded the old spray paint off the top and found some fantastically beautiful wood below…I sanded and then stained in with Minwax’s Dark Walnut.
Now the vision for it was coming together and I began to really LOVE it.
What a transformation THAT was.
I am pretty happy to see her beauty SHINE now.
I am so glad I decided to take a chance
