Handsome Empire Dresser in Artissimo

Oh my goodness.

When I saw this dresser posted on Craigslist, I fell in love quickly!
Such a stately and handsome dresser and the mirror was spectacular.

I made an offer a bit lower than the asking price and sent it of hoping for the best.
I always stay within my specified furniture budget when shopping for pieces and I rarely allow myself to go above and beyond so often that means I make reasonable, but lesser than asking price, offers.
It seems to work well for me :)

So…when I heard back from the seller than he accepted my offer, I was thrilled.
Did I mention the pick up point was just 2 miles from me?
|Also a HUGE bonus!!

Check out this handsome chest….he was pretty amazing an I could not get over how BIG and CHUNKY he was…in this case, that was a good thing ;)
The mirror alone was 3 feet by 4 feet.
Whoa MAMA.

Artissimo Empire - Before - Embracing Change

The color needed to suit this BIG HANDSOME chest…
something rich and masculine… and classy.

I chose Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Artissimo – one of my most favorite colors of milk paint.
I think I say that about all the colors actually…truth is I love them all!!!

I distressed it once I painted on three coats and then sealed up the dresser in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.
I wanted to keep some of that gorgeous grained wood so I refinished the top of the chest sanding it down to the bare wood and staining it in Minwax’s Dark Walnut stain and sealing it up in four coats of polycrylic when I was finished.
I just ADORE the top…so handsome and rustic.

Just the way I like ‘em.
