This vanity was a serious HOT MESS when I purchased it.
The top was intact, but scratched and very worn.
The drawers were labeled with masking tape that pretty much had become bonded on over the years.
She was a SAD sight.
You could tell she had been stuck in a cold garage unloved for a long, long time.
Plus she had about a gazillion old spider eggs hiding on the underside….oh my goodness.
Not for the weak at heart!
I saw potential though…she had great lines and was incredibly sturdy.
And did you see that amazing hardware?
THAT hardware was what drew me in!
I wanted to bring her back to life with some love, sanding and paint.
So…I decided to sand the top down all the way to the nice wood (it was way down deep) and refinish the top in stain – Minwax’s Early American to be exact.
The top was then well sealed in Miss Mustard Seed’s Tough Coat which is a product I have come to love!
And for the base…Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Boxwood with a bit of Bonding Agent to be sure
it would adhere well.
Then I sanded, distressed and sealed the base in Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.
Check her out now!
WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!
She is GORGEOUS isn’t she?
Never give up hope – there’s always HOPE for these old pieces 🙂
