Luckett’s Green Dresser: My Happy Accident

I really liked this dresser when I saw the picture of it posted for sale. It was just my style and I was hoping I had a chance at it! Searching for and buying pieces can be a chore...let me tell you. I really thought I wasn't going to have a chance to get this cutie, but luckily I was able to get in touch with the seller easily and arrange a meet. My original vision was to paint it in a … [Read more...]

Precious Old White Dresser Makeover

I am so giddy when I find great pieces to paint! When I found this pretty dresser, I was pretty happy and got to working right away. The lady I purchased her from is someone I have bought from many times before. Her family does auctions and estate clean outs and she has TWO HUGE BUILDINGS with beautiful old pieces stacked high. It's a little piece of heaven if you ask me. Once I got this … [Read more...]

French Linen Beauty

Shopping for pieces can be fun...or frustrating. Finding good pieces lately can be a challenge. Seems everyone is painting. So much competition. So when I found this cute and very sturdy dresser with nice mirror, I was pretty happy. She has simple lines, but so much potential. Can you see her all painted up pretty? Look past the nicks and bent hardware and you will see it. No piece is … [Read more...]

Shutter Grey Highboy Makeover

A follower from my Facebook page just remarked that I find the best furniture. I think she's right! It's a competitive market around here as there are lots of painters vying for the same pieces though which is frustrating. I was more than happy to score this stately beauty! Isn't she gorgeous?? I had been waiting for the perfect piece to use one of my favorite milk paint colors on... I … [Read more...]

Gorgeous Tall Artissimo Chest Makeover

This is the original Craigslist picture that drew me in...can you see why? The tiered top, the turned legs, the shape...I loved it all! Apparently when the seller purchased this it was painted yellow and she took the time to strip off the paint. She didn't fully finish the refinishing project though a some of the wood was different colors and not then stained to match. I didn't want to … [Read more...]

Cute Luckett’s Green Chest

Hi guys! I have been muddling through trying to get into a new school routine since we began last Wednesday... and it is HARD! It takes such DISCIPLINE to do it well. Waking on time, making the bus, completing homework, getting dinner ready on time, and bedtime routines. Serenity NOW! I am sure it will get better, but it is a challenge right now. Blogging? Oh forget about it! I will get … [Read more...]

Rustic Glam Dresser in Trophy

This dresser was pristine when I bought it. Not a blemish on it. And that grain. PUUUUUURRRRRRRRRFECT. I was in love. And truthfully this one gave me pause. I was hesitant to paint. Yup. Sometimes that can happen even to me. I appreciate lovely wood....I have a mix of wood and painted pieces in my home. I am not a wood hater...believe me. And this one made me stop and think. I waited … [Read more...]

Farmhouse Sweetheart

What is it about white? Any furniture refinisher or painter would likely tell you that white is the hardest color to work with. It is a pain to paint with as sometimes stain bleeds through it. It takes a GAZILLION coats. And it isn't very forgiving...meaning it shows imperfections all too well. And yet....it is so pretty. I guess it is a LOVE/HATE thing. I hate to paint with it, but I love … [Read more...]

Striking Buffet in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in Typewriter

She was lovely before paint...it's true. Can you imagine how much more with paint?? I purchased this from a furniture shop and opted not to buy the top piece rather using the base as simply a buffet. I loved her curves and that hardware was pretty awesome! I envisioned her as elegant and perfect for someone's dining room so I chose to paint her up in Miss Mustard Seed's … [Read more...]

Chippy White Empire

I spotted this gorgeous empire dresser at a YARD SALE. A yard sale! Can you believe it? I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods, but finding good quality pieces of furniture at yard sales doesn't happen often here. Where I live, everyone and their Mother has taken up painting so competition is rough. Lots of demand for pieces has killed the supply if you will. It is … [Read more...]
